Brian Favereaux Wins in North Haven, CT!

Congratulations to Brian Favereaux (Cromwell, CT) on winning the North Haven, CT tournament.  There were 8 competitors for this FTF Tournament and 3 made the playoffs..  Three teams tied for first place with 13 after the Round Robin and Power Matchups.  There was then a 3 way “Shoot Out” for seeding of the playoffs.  Brian wound up winning the Shoot Out with Tim Rice (Alabny, CT) coming in 2nd and Gene Abood (Boston, MA) was the 3 seed.  Tim Rice jump to a 2 games to 0 lead but Gene rallied and won the last 3 games to take the series 3-2.

In the best of 7 series, the games went back and forth for the first 2 games.  Game 3 Gene was leading 5-2 in the top of the 9th when Winker doubled, Contreras got on via a X-Chance single against D. Smith.  A strikeout to Didi and Colin Moran pinch hit and rolled a Diamond to 7 and nailed it to tie it.  In the top of the 10th, an error on Will Myers in RF a BB to D.J. and Winker slammed a 3 run HR to take the lead.  Nola for Gene hit a solo HR in the bottom of the 10th but it wasn’t enough.  GM 4 Bauer for Gene was a stud.  Brian had his chances missing 3 HR chances including the HR to 17 off Bauer with Harper, but it wasn’t enough.  Bauer and Gene win 2-1 to tie the series at 2.  Game 5 was another pitchers dual with Gonsolin winning the battle vs. Maeda 2-0.  In game 6, Kershaw goes 6 innings with O’Day, Scott, and Mayers finishing off the game 10-1 and the series 4 games to 2.

Gonsolin and Winker took CO-MVP honors as Gonsolin was 2-0 and Winker got big after big hit and drove in 7 runs.
